On New Year's Eve, while setting off fireworks and sky lanterns, four people, including two children, were burned in different areas of the capital.
They have been treated at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
The burned individuals are Sentu Mia, 45, Samrat, 20, Tafsir, 3, and Sifan Mallik, 12.
Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident doctor at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, said that on New Year's Eve, while setting off fireworks and sky lanterns, four people, including two children, were burned and admitted to the hospital.
They suffered minor burns and were discharged after receiving initial treatment.
Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said that due to immediate treatment and departure from the hospital, the exact location and detailed information about the incident could not be obtained.
As the clock struck midnight, the skies of Dhaka lit up with colours.
The entire city became one with the sounds of crackers and fireworks. On the rooftops of homes across Dhaka, people of all ages gathered in celebration to welcome the new year with joy.
For this New Year's Eve and 2025 New Year celebrations, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) had imposed a ban on any kind of fireworks, crackers, and sky lanterns in the Dhaka Metropolitan area.
