State Minister for Public Administration and Food Abdul Bari, who was injured in a road accident in Shibganj, Bogra, while travelling from Dhaka to his constituency in Joypurhat-2 (Kalai-Khetlal-Akkelpur), has been sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
The state minister and his wife Najma Ara Begum were injured in the accident on Friday morning. A woman, identified as Firoza Begum, 55, was killed.
Kalai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saidul Alam said Abdul Bari received primary treatment in Kalai before being admitted to Joypurhat 400-Bed General Hospital. His wife was unharmed and is in good health.
After receiving treatment at the hospital, doctors decided to refer the state minister to Dhaka for advanced medical care. His planned visit to the constituency was cancelled, and he was taken to Dhaka by ambulance at around 12:45pm on Friday.
Dr Rashed Mobarak Jewel, superintendent of Joypurhat 400-Bed General Hospital, said Abdul Bari sustained injuries to both shoulders and his chest in the accident but is now out of danger.
