In recent weeks, crimes in Mohammadpur and adjacent areas have come to the attention of social media.
The residents complained about their insecurity on several Facebook posts and to the law enforcement authority.
To ensure the security of residents, the 46th Independent Infantry Brigade of Army and Police conducted two joint drives in Mohammadpur’s Dhaka Udyan, Chand Uddan, and Geneva camp on Sunday morning and night.
The drive resulted in the arrest of 22 murder criminals, snatchers, and teen gang members.
Among those arrested were known criminals Selim, a human trafficker, and members of the Ruhul gang, Ibrahim and Sagar.
As well, two drug dealers, ten snatchers, and seven members of teen gangs were arrested and handed over to police.
A press release from ISPR confirmed the number of arrests.
The press release also stated that, following the arrests, Mohammadpur residents were relieved from insecurity, and the drive will be continued to ensure their safety and security.
