A group called Inquilab Manch held a "red card" rally at Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday afternoon demanding the abolition of the 1972 constitution.
Speakers at the rally, held near the Raju Memorial Sculpture on the campus, said any constitution that does not understand the language of the common people must be abolished immediately.
They added that the constitution should serve the people of the country, but the Awami League government treated it as their "personal property."
During the event, members of Inquilab Manch chanted various slogans too.
The organization's spokesperson, Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, expressed concern over the fact that the constitution has already been amended 17 times.
He questioned why there was any complexity in abolishing the constitution.
He pointed out that following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina regime on August 5, many leaders and activists from various parties have been released from their cases.
He questioned the validity of the current constitution, stating that it should honour the martyrs of the July Revolution.
He remarked that due to the complexities of political parties, it has become difficult to remove the president, who he said is an ally of the Awami League government.
Hadi asked: "In a time when the state is changing daily, why is the constitution not being abolished?"
At the end of the rally, members of Inquilab Manch displayed red cards while blowing whistles.
