Update : 11 Aug 2024, 11:08 PM

Nirmal Rozario, president of the Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, has called for a thorough investigation into recent attacks on Hindu homes, businesses and places of worship across the country following the government's collapse in the face of a mass uprising.

Rozario also urged Bangladesh’s new interim government to introduce an ordinance to ensure the safety of minorities, during during a demonstration on Sunday at Shahbagh, which has been ongoing for three days.

"We want a non-communal Bangladesh. Every incident of attack on minorities must be properly investigated, and those responsible should be prosecuted. I call on the interim government to enact an ordinance for minority protection. We will not compromise on this matter," Nirmal said.

The rally was attended by leaders and activists from various branches of the council, along with around 1,000 participants including students, Hindus and Buddhists.
