The premiere show of the documentary "Jyotirmoy (The Professor)" about the life of martyred intellectual Prof Dr Jyotirmoy Guhathakurta was held on Wednesday evening.
The 72-minute-long documentary is directed by filmmaker Sandip Kumar Mistry.
The premiere of this documentary was showcased at the Liberation War Museum Auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka.
The documentary was produced by Jyotirmoy Guhathakurta’s daughter Prof Dr Meghna Guhathakurta and supervised by filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel.
At the beginning of the screening, Prof Dr Meghna Guhathakurta said in her inaugural speech: "This documentary is for the new generation so that they can learn about Jyotirmoy Guhathakurta. I am his only child and I have no children. If I die, there will be no one to represent my father to the future generations. It has been my long-standing dream to do this work. I am very happy and proud to have completed it."
Expressing his feelings, filmmaker Sandip Kumar Mistry said: "I feel very proud to have been able to do such a work. Through this documentary, we were able to present him anew to this generation."
Speeches were also given by Jyotirmoy Guhathakurta's student and colleague Prof Sirajul Islam Chowdhury, Krishna Dutta representing the Guhathakurta family, filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel, among others.
