North South University (NSU) organized an orientation for the newly enrolled students of the Summer-2023 semester on Sunday.
Around 2,600 students got into the graduate (honours) courses in 16 departments of the four schools of the university and around 66 students have been awarded a merit-based scholarship based on their previous results.
The university has granted free education to 40 students who were admitted under the Muktijodha quota.
NSU Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman Javed Muneer Ahmad was present as chief guest BOT member Yasmin Kamal, attended the program as the special guest.
Professor Atiqul Islam presided over the session.
Javed Muneer Ahmad stressed the event's significance for the students' higher education journey, urging attentiveness and highlighting the value of learning from the classroom, teachers, and classmates. He emphasized the importance of the skills acquired at NSU in realizing the vision of a Smart Bangladesh.
Yasmin Kamal thanked parents for choosing NSU and hoped the students would become exemplary citizens of Bangladesh.
Professor Atiqul Islam urged the students to maximize their utilization of the university's resources to achieve their goals. He also called upon parents to provide guidance and support to their children, ensuring they remain focused and work tirelessly towards their academic improvement.
The freshman program concluded with a captivating cultural performance by the members of the NSU Cultural Organization.
