Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) welcomed around 1,000 new undergraduate students during the Spring 2026 Orientation program on January 15, 2026. Organized by the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations, the event was held at the IUB Auditorium and attended by parents, guardians, senior management, faculty members, and administrative staff.
Of the newly enrolled students, 55% are male and 45% are female. While 66% of the students come from Dhaka, the remaining 34% represent districts across the country. Prof M Tamim, vice chancellor; Prof Daniel W Lund, pro vice chancellor; Asif Parvez, registrar; and Lima Choudhury, director of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations, spoke at the inaugural session.
Khandker Md Iftekhar Haider, treasurer; Prof Dr Bokhtiar Ahmed, dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; Prof Dr Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, dean of the School of Law; Dr K Ayaz Rabbani, dean of the School of Environment and Life Sciences; Dr Kamran ul Baset, dean of the School of Pharmacy and Public Health; Dr Habib Bin Muzaffar, dean of the School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences; and Representative from the School of Business and Entrepreneurship Dr Samiul Parvez Ahmed were present at the ceremony.
The inaugural session concluded with the recognition of merit scholars who secured top marks in the admission test. In the second session, a video presentation showcased student clubs, extracurricular activities, and general and academic support services. Priyanka Dey, deputy director at the Admissions Office, moderated the program, which concluded with lively performances by the IUB Music Club and the IUB Dance Club.
