State University of Bangladesh celebrated World Environment Day on June 5 to promote environmental conservation keeping in mind that the day acts as a reminder for people to save and maintain the natural resources of the earth
Its Department of Environmental Science organized the celebration with a number of events, including a rally, a tree-planting drive and a speech from notable environmentalist Prof Syed Hafizur Rahman on its main campus in South Purbachal, reads a press release issued on Sunday.
The main purpose of this event was to create awareness among the community, faculty members and students to move towards a sustainable environment and solutions to plastic pollution.
Prof Syed Hafizur Rahman addressed the topic "Solutions to Plastic Pollution," which was the theme of this year's World Environment Day.
He gave the audience insightful information on how to save the earth's resources, find solutions to plastic pollution, and incorporate sustainable habits into people's daily lives.

Md Zahidul Islam, the head of the environmental science department, focused on the elimination of single-use plastic in educational institutions.

After the speech, a departmental rally was organized on the university campus.
At this event, faculty members, students and the guest speaker held the banner and chanted slogans, advocating for a solution to plastic pollution.
The main purpose of this demonstration was to raise awareness among individuals about building a sustainable future by combating plastic pollution and creating a healthier and cleaner society.
One of the most important activities in this celebration, the planting of trees around the perimeter of the campus, involved everyone.
