World Environment Day observed in Naogaon

Around 1,500 saplings were distributed among participants

Mousumi Smart Sub-Project observed World Environment Day in Naogaon on Wednesday through a series of programmes, including an awareness rally, tree plantation, discussion meeting and distribution of saplings.

The events were organised by the Raninagar Model Environment Club under the theme ‘Inspired by Nature, for Climate, for Our Future.’

The programme began in the morning with an environmental awareness rally from the Mousumi head office. It was later followed by a discussion session, presentation on climate change, tree plantation activities, and distribution of saplings.

Md Erfan Ali, Executive Director of Mousumi, attended as chief guest, while Mousumi Advisor Hossain Shahid Iqbal presided over the programme.

The Smart sub-project is being implemented by Mousumi with funding from the World Bank and support from PKSF.

Speaking at the event, Md Erfan Ali called on all to take responsibility in their respective roles to combat environmental pollution and address the adverse impacts of climate change. He stressed that large-scale tree plantation is essential for environmental protection and sustainable development.

Project officials, including Liaqat Ali, Firoz Hossain, Al Amin, Imran Sheikh, Mrityunjay Mahanta, and Abdur Rouf, along with teachers, students, youth representatives, women entrepreneurs, civil society members, and beneficiaries, were present at the programme.

At the end of the event, around 1,500 saplings of various species were distributed among participants.
