3 Gulshan traders fined nearly 1L for overpricing

Surveillance and awareness activities were conducted in various markets and businesses

The Directorate of National Consumer Right Protection (DNCRP) fined three traders Tk90,000 while conducting special raids on cosmetic products and ready-made garments in different shopping malls in Gulshan on Sunday.

Three traders were fined for various crimes against consumer rights.

The special campaign was led by the Deputy Director of the Consumer Affairs Directorate Md Masum Arefin, Dhaka Divisional Office Assistant Director Rozina Sultana and Md Magfur Rahman.

In the campaign, surveillance and awareness activities were conducted in various markets and businesses.

According to officials, it was examined during the examination of the Gulshan area's raw markets, supermarkets, pharmacies, and other institutions to see if vegetables, onions, pulses, edible oil, sugar, and other daily necessities were being sold at fair prices.

At the same time, proper display of price list, sale of products at fixed prices, preservation of product purchase receipts, mismatch of sales receipts with the price shown in the price list, correct weight, expired products and medicines, fake products, etc were observed to find whether any crime against consumer interest was being committed.

Several teams of the Gulshan police station cooperated in the operation.
