Gulistan blast: 3 including building owner remanded

They were detained on Tuesday for interrogation after the blast

Three people including the owner of the building in Dhaka's Gulistan where an explosion killed 21 people have been remanded.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed on Thursday placed building owner Wahidur Rahman, his brother Matiur Rahman and businessman Motaleb Mintu each on a two-day remand. 

Earlier in the day, the three were shown arrested in a case filed in connection with Tuesday's blast at the seven-storey commercial building in Gulistan's Siddikbazar area. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner of Crime Department Dr K Mohiuddin came up with this information in a press conference held at DMP's media centre on Thursday afternoon. 

The arrestees are building owners Wahidur Rahman, Matiur Rahman and businessman Motaleb Mintu.

Mohiuddin said that Wahidur Rahman, the building owner, and his brother Matiur Rahman were detained from Fulbaria area for interrogation on Tuesday after the incident. 

Later, Motaleb Mintu was detained on Tuesday night. 

Police on Wednesday filed an unnatural death case in the incident of the explosion.

Later, they were shown arrested in the case due to their negligence. 

The explosion that occurred in a restaurant called Cafe Queen in the basement of the seven-storey building in Gulistan's Siddikbazar area on Tuesday afternoon has so far claimed the lives of 21 people and injured over 100 people.
