The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) has formed two probe committees to investigate the explosion in a seven-storied building in Siddikbazar area of the capital.

One of the probe bodies will investigate the blast while another one will assess the condition of the building.

Rajuk (Zone 5) Director Hamidul Islam confirmed the development on Wednesday.

He said: "There will be a five-member investigation committee to find the cause of the Siddikbazar explosion. I will be the head of this committee.”

Apart from this, another six-member investigation committee will be formed to assess the condition of the building and recommend future planning, the director of Rajuk said.

Hamidul Islam said that since there is a traffic road in front of the municipal building, an investigation committee will be made to determine whether the building will be removed or not. “Because the building has already been flagged as safe by the fire service.”

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) cleaners have already come and cleared everything from the front of the seven-storey building. However, a fire service unit is stationed with an ambulance.

On Tuesday, at least 19 people were killed and over 100 others injured in a massive explosion in a seven-storey building near a BRTC bus counter at Siddikbazar in Gulistan area of the capital.
