Their top-selling book is ‘Nirokkhorer Golpoguccho’ which exhibits stories written by authors without formal education

Update : 27 Feb 2023, 03:36 PM

The Bidyanondo book stall at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair is creating a splash by displaying an astounding selection of offbeat and uplifting publications.

While customers peruse the enormous selection of publications on display, the stall has attracted both bibliophiles and intellectual connoisseurs.

The books on display at Bidyanondo are not typical run-of-the-mill reads. Instead, they challenge readers to think outside the box and embrace new perspectives.

"Nirokkhorer Golpoguccho," a book from the Bidyanondo Foundation exhibits 12 stories written by authors without any formal schooling.

The writers of these stories have a profound awareness of the human experience despite having no academic education. Their work is infused with an air of sincerity and emotional resonance.

The tales are evidence of the potency of storytelling in bringing people together and transcending cultural divides.

By publishing “Nirokkhorer Golpoguccho,” Bidyanondo Foundation has offered a platform to writers who may otherwise go unnoticed by not getting a chance to showcase their passion and originality to surpass the limitations of literacy and education.

Abu Sadek, a representative of Bidyanondo book stall, said the best-selling book in their collection so far is “Nirokkhorer Golpoguccho,” following "Mro Rupkotha," the first-ever book written in the Mro language.

The book is an important milestone in preserving the cultural heritage of the Mro people and has been warmly received by the community.

Along with the success of the original Mro rendition, "Mro Rupkotha" has also gotten positive reviews in Bangla as well.

The translation has promoted a deeper understanding and respect for the Mro community's way of life by making their unique stories and culture accessible to a larger audience.

The popularity of the "Mro Rupkotha" Bangla translation is evidence of the value of conserving and advancing ethnic minority languages and traditions.

Besides, the book's popularity also reflects the rising popularity of diverse viewpoints and voices in writing and storytelling.

"Being an avid reader, I was thrilled to discover these unique books through Bidyanondo Foundation's Facebook page. The idea of promoting literacy and preserving ethnic languages and cultures really resonated with me, and I knew I had to get my hands on them. That's why I'm here at Ekushey Boi Mela, excited to purchase these books and support this important cause," said Hasib, a university student.

This year's Ekushey Boi Mela has been significantly impacted by the Bidyanonda book stall, demonstrating the value of books that challenge, inspire, and drive readers in addition to those that only amuse them.

Altogether, the popularity of these books highlights the value of safeguarding and promoting Bangladesh's rich cultural variety and the ability of literature to foster cross-cultural understanding.
