Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Al Nahian Khan Joy odemanded the resumption of student politics at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).

His demand came following demonstrations by students of the university against some program on the campus by some former leaders and activists of BCL.

The former BCL men held a prayer session and discussion program marking the National Mourning Day on the campus on Saturday.

Later, the students strongly protested the program chanting, "Chhatra Rajnitir Thikana, BUET campus e hobe na, Abrarer Rokto Britha Zete debo na."

Joy made the demand while speaking as the chief guest at a human chain demanding that the government should bring back the killers of Bangabandhu.

The program was organized on the Dhaka University campus.

He said: “I will ask the Buet administration to reconsider the current ban on student politics. We will make the university militant-free by resuming politics on campus.”

Following the murder of Buet student Abrar Fahad, the university authorities banned student politics on campus in 2019.
