The leaders and activists of the Dhaka College unit of Chhatra League blocked the Mirpur Road demanding a new committee.
They blocked the road at 10:30pm on Sunday. Later they took position at the Science Lab intersection.
The protest caused a heavy gridlock in the area.
Confirming the matter, Fuad Hasan, Dhaka College Chhatra League leader, said: "Dhaka College Chhatra League committee has not been formed for a long time. Six years ago, a convening committee was given for three months. After that, they did not form the committee.
“As you know the Chhatra League council is scheduled on December 6. There will be no chance after that. We asked Joy Bhai (Chhatra League Central Committee president) came from Chittagong today (Sunday). We asked him what is causing the delay. In reply, he said he was trying,” he added.
Fuad also said: "Bahauddin Nasim and Jahangir Kabir Nanak are talking to the besieging leaders and activists. Let's see what happens.”
