Another victim of the Dilu Road building fire, AKM Shahidul Kirmany Rony, 40, died at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
He died around 6:30am on Monday, confirmed the hospital's Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Partha Sarker Pal.
He was the father and husband of AKM Rushdi and Jannatul Ferdous respectively, two of the other five victims who lost their lives in the deadly fire.
Jannatul, 40, also succumbed to her injuries at the same hospital around 9:30am on Sunday and their only child, five-year-old Rushdi, died on the spot when a fire broke out in a five storey building in Dhaka's Dilu Road in Eskaton, around 4am on February 27.
With this death, the family of three, Rony, Jannatul, and their child Rushdi, is now only a memory.
The couple, who were student batch mates and had a love marriage, were on life support at the hospital's ICU after Rony sustained 43% burns, and Jannatul suffered from 95% burns on her body.
Rony was an employee of VIVP Estate Management, and his wife Jannatul worked for Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Their son Rushdi was a playgroup student at a local school.
Both of them were from Itna in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi district.
At least three people died on the day of the fire incident, and nine others were injured. Of the deceased, two were children: AKM Rushdi, 5, and Afreen Jannat Juthi, 17.
Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of the Forensic Medicine department of Dhaka Medical College, said: "Two of the victims were burnt beyond recognition while the other victim Abdul died of smoke inhalation."
Besides that, jumping from the building to escape the fire, Jahangir Alam, 42, his wife Lal Banu, 35, and Shahabuddin Shihab, 35, sustained injuries.
Jahangir Alam, the father of the deceased teenage girl Juthi, said: "I broke my leg when I jumped from there to the adjacent building's roof. My wife broke her leg and back doing the same.”
The probe body formed by the Fire Service and Civil Defense, after primary investigation, suspect the fire started in the garage. However, the precise cause of the fire and from where it started is yet to be determined.
