A fire gutted over 100 shanties at a slum in Baunia badh area of Kalshi at Dhaka’s Mirpur in the early hours of Friday.
Ershad Hossain, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Central Control Room, said the fire started at the Hirur Maar Slum on Kalshi Road around 12:50am.

The authorities were yet to determine how the fire started and the extent of damage.
Bangla Tribune also reported that firefighters had a tough time fighting the fire because of gusty wind, which had followed light rain that started late on Thursday night.
Pallabi police station’s Inspector Abdul Mabud said there were no reports of any casualties immediately.
