An intellectually disabled youth has been killed in a road accident in the capital’s Paltan area.
The incident took place on the main road in front of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque around 4:30am on Thursday.
The deceased is Md Bellal Hossein, 22, son of Md Komol Bepari, hailing from Barisal district.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Paltan Model police station Sub Inspection (SI) Md Shahin said: “On information, we reached the spot and found Bellal lying motionless on the road.”
Later, the body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy around 6:15am, said DMCH police outpost in-charge Inspector Md Bachchu Mia.
Police suspect that Bellal was hit-and-run by an unidentified vehicle.
A case is yet to be filed in connection to the matter.
