Buet students hold candlelight procession in remembrance of Abrar

A moment of silence was also observed at the time

The protesting students at Buet have brought out a candlelight procession to remember their fellow student Abrar Fahad who was brutally murdered on Monday.

The procession started from in front of the Shaheed Minar on Bangladesh University Engineering Technology (Buet) campus and ended in front of the VC office on Tuesday.

The procession passed all the halls on the campus including the Sher-e-Bangla Hall where Abrar was murdered.

A moment of silence was also observed at the time.

Abrar, a second year student of electrical and electronic engineering department of the university.

Some Chhatra League leaders have been accused of beating him for his alleged involvement with IslamiChhatraShibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.  

Meanwhile, Abrar's father BarkatUllah filed a murder case against 19 people with Chawkbazar police station on Monday evening.

Later, Bangladesh Chhatra League expelled 11 of its members permanently from the organization for their involvement in Abrar’s murder.

Abrar’s death sparked protest across Bangladesh. The protesters have demanded justice for Abrar and capital punishment for the murderers.

As of now, 13 people have been arrested in connection to the murder.
