Chhatra League expels 11 members over Buet student murder

The expelled leaders include eight office bearers and three executive members of Chhatra League's Buet unit

Bangladesh Chhatra League expelled eleven of its members permanently from the organisation over their involvement with murder of Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the central executive body following findings of the probe committee formed by the central Chhatra League, said a statement signed by BCL acting president Al-Nahean Khan Joy and acting general secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee on Monday.

The expelled leaders include eight office bearers and three executive members of Buet unit of the Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling party.

The office bearers are- Buet Chhatra League General Secretary Mehedi Hasan Rasel, Joint Secretary Muhtasim Fuad, Organizing Secretary Mehedi Hasan Robin, Information and Research Affairs Secretary Anick Sarker, Sports Secretary Meftahul Islam Zion, Literature Secretary Moniruzzaman Monir, Deputy Social Service Secretary Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, and Deputy Office Secretary Mujtoba Rafid.

It also expelled BUET unit Chhatra League members Muntasir Al Zemi, Mujahidur Rahman, and Ehtemamul Rabbi Tanim.

Earlier, Chhatra League formed a two-member probe body to look into the death of Buet student Abrar.
