Dhaka University Tourist Society has observed the World Tourism Day 2019.
World Tourism Day is commemorated each year on September 27, with celebrations led by World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Its purpose is to foster awareness among the global community of tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value and the contribution the sector can make in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, in line with UNWTO’s overarching focus on skills, education and jobs throughout the year, World Tourism Day will be observed with the agenda "Tourism and Jobs: A better future for all."
Like in the previous years, DUTS is going to celebrate the day at DU premises through various activities.
A colourful cultural rally, quiz contests, photography competition and exhibition along with screening films and bioscopes during the day-long program are part of the event.
Inaugurating the program, chief guest and the DUTS Advisor Prof Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury, MP, expressed her delight in attending the program.
Deputy Director of TSC, Nazir Ahmed Simab, was also present, among others, at the event.
DUTS has been the pioneer in celebrating World Tourism Day in Dhaka since its formation in 1995.
