Additional Inspector General of police Md Shafiqul Islam has been appointed as the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The announcement was made through a gazette notification issued by the Home Ministry on Wednesday.
He will be replacing Asaduzzaman Mia, the former DMP chief.
Earlier, Shafiqul was the chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police. On May 16 this year, Shafiqul was appointed as CID chief.
