A college in Dhaka has suspended one of its teachers for setting questions on a controversial social media figure — Sefat Ulla — popularly known as “Sefuda.”
Rajuk Uttara Model College has suspended its teacher Jahinul Hasan on Wednesday, after the question paper for the pre-test exams for 10th graders went viral on the social media, and stirred controversy, said Md Ziaul Haque, chairman of Dhaka Education Board.
A five-member committee, led by the college’s vice principal M Matlubur Rahman, has been formed to investigate the incident, added Haque.
In the creative section of the question paper on Islam and Moral Education, Sefat Ullah was used as a stimulus in an explanatory passage.
Sefat Ullah, who is an expatriate in Austria’s Vienna, has become popular with his trash-talking videos on Facebook.
Sefat moved to Vienna around 22 years ago.
On April 23, 2019, Lawyer Md Alim Al Razi filed a case against Sefat Ullah in Dhaka Cyber Crime Tribunal for vilifying the Quran on social media.
