The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed all government and non-government educational institutions — including lower secondary, secondary, and the secondary level of schools and colleges — to conduct annual, selection, and junior scholarship examinations as scheduled, amid a boycott of annual exams by government secondary school teachers.
The directive, signed by DSHE Director Professor Dr. Khan Mainuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, was issued Monday and sent to regional deputy directors, district education officers, upazila secondary education officers, principals, and headteachers.
DSHE warned that any negligence or irregularities by teachers or officials during the examinations would result in action under existing regulations.
Secondary-level teachers have been refusing to administer annual exams as part of ongoing protests over a four-point charter of demands.
According to the directive, annual exams scheduled from November 20 to Sunday, selection exams from Thursday to December 11, and junior scholarship exams scheduled from December 28 to 31 — as stated in a DSHE letter dated October 29 — must be held nationwide within the specified timeframe. Officials have been instructed to ensure all necessary measures for smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the examinations.
