Burhanuddin College observes Bangabandhu’s 99th birth anniversary

Shaikh Burhanuddin Post-Graduate College in the capital observed the 99th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in a befitting manner on Sunday.

Prof Dr Harunor Rashid Khan, chairman of the college governing body, inaugurated the Bangabandhu and Liberation War Corner on campus to retain the memory and great contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman towards the emergence of an independent nation in 1971.

Other members of the college administrative body, including its Principal, Prof Abdur Rahman, and Staff Council Secretary and Governing Body Member, Abu Nayem Md Rafi, attended the program.

To mark the day, a discussion was held on the life, struggle, and sacrifice of Bangabandhu, where Prof Dr Harunor Rashid Khan as the chief guest, recalled the importance of March in the life of Bangalees as a nation, and in the history of Bangladesh.     

“There is a correlation between March 7 and March 17 that culminated in the independence of Bangladesh on March 26,” he said.

He urged all to be imbued with the ideals of Bangabandhu and engage in nation building to take the country forward.

Prof Dr Dulal Kanti Bhowmik and Prof Taslima Begum were present as special guests and spoke on the occasion. Among others, students, teachers, and distinguished guests participated.

The birthday of the Father of the Nation was celebrated by cutting a cake, followed by a prize-giving ceremony for the winners of essay writing and drawing competitions arranged on the occasion.

College Principal Prof Abdur Rahman presided over the program.
