Gas supply resumes in Dhaka

During the relocation work, some pipes and valves of the main supply have been replaced to ensure uninterrupted supply in the capital city

Gas supply resumed in the western part of the capital from 6am on Wednesday after suspension for 12 hours due to relocation of pipelines to facilitate construction work of the metro rail project.

“TGTDC has resumed the supply of gas in the western part of the capital from 6am today following relocation of pipelines,” Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd (TGTDC) Director (Operation) Kamruzzaman Khan, told BSS.

“During the relocation work, some pipes and valves of the main supply have been replaced to ensure uninterrupted supply in the capital city,” he added.

All residential, commercial, and industrial gas consumers, along with some key government establishments such as Bangabhaban, Ganabhaban, Jatiya Sangsad, and Dhaka University, did not have gas from 6pm Tuesday to 6am Wednesday.

During the period, there was no gas in Mirpur, Shyamoli, Manipuripara, Agargaon, Mohammadpur, Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Hajaribag, BUET, Dhaka University area, Shahbag, Green Road, areas of entire old Dhaka, Gopibag, Shamibag, Rampura, Banasree, Nandipara, Moghbazar, Siddheshwari, Segunbagicha, Minto Road, Tejgaon, Khilgaon, Basabo , Motijheel, and Kamalapur.
