A person was electrocuted to death on the roof of the four-storey building of Dhaka Central Jail's Research and Display Center on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Bijoy Sourav, 25, a student of the Law University Department of Dhaka University.
A police constable of the Special Branch (SB), Sarwar, also suffered minor injuries in the same incident.
The police took the unconscious student to the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The hospital camp police sub-inspector (SI), Md Bachchu Mia, said SB member Sarwar Hossain and Bijoy knew each other. Sarowar was in charge of the area.
At one stage of their meeting, they went to the building rooftop. Bijoy somehow touched a live wire and was electrocuted. Police suspect Sarwar got electrocuted when he tried to save Bijoy.
