There are allegations that some leaders of Chhatra League have acted undisciplined at a meeting in Ganabhaban.

The incident allegedly occurred on Wednesday night, at a view-exchange meeting between Awami League President and Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, and some party leaders seeking positions in the student wing’s organization, reports the Bangla Tribune.

The matter was disclosed to the correspondent by a number of sources who were present at the meeting.

At some point during the meeting, the Chhatra League leaders engaged in a heated argument among themselves. The Special Security Force (SSF), tasked with providing security to the prime minister, brought the situation under control.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the leader that it would take a few more days to announce a committee. She also called upon the leaders and activists to accept the committee once it is announced.

An insider told the correspondent: “Emotions were high during the meeting, and the overwhelming emotions led to undisciplined behavior. Sheikh Hasina has asked the Chhatra League leaders to act more disciplined.”

Sources revealed that Chhatra League leader Sohan, who is seeking a position in the committee, complained against recently-deceased Central Executive Committee president Saifur Rahman Sohag and general secretary SM Jakir Hossain.

Hearing the complaints, ex-president of Dhaka Metropolitan North Chhatra League, Mizan, started acting aggressively towards Sohan.

The SSF brought the situation under control—after the Chhatra League leaders started screaming and fighting to take control of the microphones.

However, sources present during the meeting confirmed that the leaders and activists of the student’s wing have agreed to accept any decision made by the party president.

She concluded the meeting by saying that her decision on the committee will be final—and everyone will stand united to tackle the upcoming general polls.

The meeting, attended by around 250 leaders and activists of the Chhatra League, was held from 8pm to 11pm on Wednesday night.

Awami League Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap and Organizing Secretary Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury were present at the view -exchange—among many others.
