The situation is expected to come to a close after Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan returns to the country, as he mediated truce between these factions of Tabligh Jamaat on numerous occasions in the past. A number of Tabligh Jamaat leaders and police officials made the disclosure to the correspondent on Saturday. According to sources, Ramna Zone police officials held a meeting with representatives of Tabligh Jamaat on Saturday noon, and established a truce of sorts.

Deputy Commissioner (Ramna zone) Maruf Hossain Sardar said: “We convened an urgent meeting at the mosque with both parties. Two resolutions have been agreed to. “Firstly, Syed Wasif and Maulana Zubayer cannot enter the mosque till May 1. And two people from each faction have been temporarily banned from the mosque.” The scholars are- Abdullah Mansur, Dr Erteza Hasan, MahfuzHannan, and Dr Asgar.

Among them, Maulana Mozammel Haque, Syed Wasiful Islam, Khan Sahabuddin Nasim, Maulana Mosharraf, Yunus Shikdar and Sheikh Nur Mohammad support Maulana Muhammad Saad Al Kandhalvi. Meanwhile, Maulana Zobaer, Maulana Rabiul Haque, Maulana Mohammad Hossain, Maulana Omar Faruk are against Kandhalvi. Maulana Mohammad Faruk is yet to take a side in this internal dispute. According to Zunayed Siddique, who is aligned with the Tabligh Jamaat, their opposition apparently occupied the mosque with the assistance of Qawmi madrasa students. DC Maruf on Saturday stated that the police evicted all the outsiders from the mosque. He assured the mosque’s everyday schedule can continue after consulting the mosque authorities.
