PM's Ukhiya visit draws rare praise from BNP

Update : 12 Sep 2017, 11:01 PM
The BNP on Tuesday sang the praises of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for visiting Rohingya refugees, who fled their homeland in Myanmar on facing persecution. “The prime minister went to Ukhiya [Cox's Bazar] today (Tuesday). We learned that she has distributed relief goods there,” said the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He made the above statement at a discussion held in Dhaka’s Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, reports UNB. However, the BNP leader also criticised the government for not adopting a motion in parliament condemning the ongoing genocide against the ethnic community by the Myanmar authorities.

Mirza also criticised the government for remaining silent when the Indonesian foreign minister and Turkish foreign minister and first lady visited Bangladesh over the Rohingya issue. He also slammed the government for not allowing Rohingyas to enter Bangladesh at the outset when Myanmar security forces began persecuting them.
