The RAB official said the name of one Sohel has come up in their investigation but they are not sure if this is the same Sohel who was identified by the law enforcers as the bomb supplier in the Gulshan attack.The detainees are Md Shariful Islam alias Mahmud, his wife Marjiya Akter Shumi, Md Aminul Islam and his wife Nahid Sultana, RAB 2 official Major Mohammad Ali told Dhaka tribune.
RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Chief Mufti Mahmud Khan confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday afternoon.
He said: “Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB 2 conducted a drive and detained Mahmud, Shumi and Aminul from a restaurant opposite to Ananda Cinema Hall in Farmgate around 12:30am.
“Based on the information provided by them, we detained Nahid from a residence in Narayanganj’s Fatullah area.”
Mufti said: “They had plans to flee abroad. The documents that were recovered in the driver prove that they were preparing to flee to Pakistan.”
