Three suspected robbers were killed in a lynching in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Zahirul Haque, Mofizul and Nabi Hossain.
They were detained and beaten up during an attempted robbery on a bus in the morning, said Araihazar police station Officer-in-Charge Anisur Rahman Molla.
Two of them died on the spot while the other died while being taken to the hospital, he added.

Police are trying to figure out whether the three were actually robbers, said the police officer.
Meanwhile, the deceased Zahirul’s cousin Md Selim Mia dismissed the claims of his relative being a robber.
“I found his [Zahirul] phone turned off in the morning. Later, I came to know that some people had been killed and their bodies dumped. I went there and saw my brother’s body lying on the ground. My brother is not a robber,” said Selim.
