The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has withdrawn Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Golam Saklain Shithil from the Gulshan Division of Detective Branch (DB) on the basis of allegations of unprofessional conduct with actor Pori Moni during an investigation.
He has been restricted from all activities of DB and attached to the DMP's Public Order Management (POM) West Division, confirmed DMP ADC (media and public relations) Iftekharul Islam on Saturday afternoon.
DMP DB chief Additional Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter said that DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam had ordered the removal.
“Saklain is now on leave. We will investigate the allegation of unprofessional conduct after forming a probe body,” he added.
Several media reported that Shithil had been involved in unprofessional conduct with Pori Moni while supervising a case filed by the actress on June 13 against five persons, including businessman Nasir U Mahmud, former president of Uttara Club.
Shithil, however, refuted the allegations while talking to the media.
Earlier, Pori Moni had levelled rape allegations against businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud at the Dhaka Boat Club on June 13.
The next day, Mahmud was arrested from his Uttara residence.
