The child’s family had several disputes with the murderer’s family that led to the killing

Police have said the four-month old child named Sadia was the victim of a dispute involving two families in a slum in Uttar Adabor of Dhaka.

Sadia’s neighbour Parvin, 24, brutally killed the infant by slitting her throat with a blade on Friday.

Parvin committed the murder as the child’s grandfather, the slum manager, had stopped her husband from setting up a shop in the area.

“As Parvin’s husband had been barred from setting up a shop and Sadia’s mother had misbehaved with her [Parvin’s] children, she bore a grudge against the family. On the day of the incident, while Sadia’s mother was busy in the kitchen, Parvin killed the child,” said Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Harun-Ur-Rashid of DMP’s Tejgaon division at a press briefing on Wednesday at his office.

Police arrested the accused Parvin on Sunday. She made a confessional statement under Section 164, said the DC.

The blade used for the murder was also seized from the accused’s house, the police official added.

On Friday, police recovered the body of Sadia, her throat slit, and launched an investigation.

Sadia’s father had lodged a murder case in this regard with Adabar police station.
