Three held in Tongi over assaulting female students

Police arrested three teenagers in a case filed by a father against seven on the charge of assaulting his daughter and leaking the video on the internet in Gazipur’s Tongi two days ago. The accused are Anik, Sujan, Emon, Rabbi, Shihab, Fahad and Sagor. Among them, Sujan was arrested from his residence on Thursday while Emon and Sagor were arrested on Friday. Tongi police station Inspector (Investigation) Hasanuzzman told the Bangla Tribune that the case was filed under the ICT Act. On April 29, a group of teenagers led by Anik physically assaulted 3-4 female students of Tongi’s Abdul Hakim Master High School, while the students were returning home from private tuition, and videotaped the incident. All of the accused are also students of the same school. The video was later released online, which eventually led one of the victims’ fathers to take legal action against the assaulters. The mother of another victim said: “Anik had been disturbing my daughter for the last six months. We complained to his parents in this regard but to no avail.” The acting headmaster of the school said Anik and Sujan have very irregular attendance in classes and their academic performance is very poor.
