Assistant Prof Sohel Mahmud of DMCH forensic department, who led the autopsy, said: “All the militants died of gunshots. We have recovered seven bullets from four bodies while the other five had bullets penetrated through their bodies. Most of the wounds were sustained in the backs.”
“We have collected hair, blood, urine and thigh tissues as samples from the bodies to send to labs for further investigation. We will also find out if they were on any kind of drugs,” he told journalists after the procedure.
The autopsy ended at 2pm starting from 11:30am Wednesday in DMCH morgue. The three-member team began the procedure after receiving inquest report from Mirpur police.
Two other members of the team are lecturers Prodip Biswas and Kabir Sohel of the DMCH forensic department.
Meanwhile, presence of law enforcers at the hospital premises has been increased to avert any untoward incident.
