The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police recovered two bomb-like objects from a house in Demra, Dhaka, on Sunday night and detained one person in connection with the incident.
A CTTC team went to the house at around 8:30pm after receiving information about the objects at a residence near the Gariber Newaz Mosque Road intersection in Nizhum Bagh under Demra police station.
Asad, the service delivery officer (SDO) of Demra police station, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune, saying senior police officials were at the scene. He said further details were not immediately available.
An official of the CTTC bomb disposal unit said the team had gone to the area as part of an operation to arrest a suspect in connection with the recent attack on police at Janapad Mor in Jatrabari.
The two bomb-like objects were discovered during the operation, the official said.
The CTTC bomb disposal unit later reached the scene and defused one of the objects. Efforts were underway to neutralize the other.
One person was detained along with the bomb-like objects, the official added.
