The grandmother of a 14 year-old teenage girl who was raped at Sreerampur village in Sadullapur upazila has filed a case against Sujon Miah, 27, son of Azamuddin Kha of the same village, with Sadullapur police station on Wednesday night.
This was confirmed by the Sadullapur police station OC (investigation) Imranul Kabir.
He said: “Sujon, a neighbour of the victim had taken her to a sugarcane field and raped her, when she was out to graze her goats, on Wednesday afternoon.”
The OC further said: “Hearing the victim's screams, locals rushed and rescued the girl but Sujon managed to flee the scene.”
Later, the girl was admitted to Gaibandha Modern Sadar Hospital. Dr Afroza Sultana of the hospital said: “The girl is not out of danger yet, as she bled heavily. We are treating at the moment.”
Meanwhile police raided Sujon’s house but could not arrest him as he was nowhere to be found. Police are still looking for Sujon.
