The High Court bench of Justice Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim also stayed the portion of lower court verdict that fined Nur and Arif in the case after holding a brief hearing, their lawyer SRM Lutfur Rahman Akond said.
A Narayanganj court sentenced local Awami League leader and councilor of the Narayanganj city Nur Hossain, sacked commanding officer of Rab-11 Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Major Arif and 23 others to death last month for the abduction and murder of seven people in 2014.
SRM Lutfur Rahman Akond said that the court will commence hearing on the appeals and death references of the death convicts together.
The death convicts who filed appeals are—Nur Hossain, Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, sacked Lt. Commander Masud Rana, Maj Arif Hossain, havilder Emdadul Haque, Hiru Mia, lance nayek Belal Hossain, sepoy Abu Taiyeb, constable Shihab Uddin, ASI Purnendu Bala, sepoy Asaduzzaman Nur and Nur Hossain's aides—Mortuja Jaman Charchil, Ali Mohammad, Mizanur Rahman Dipu, Abul Bashar and Rohom Ali.
