Schoolgirl hacked to death in Khulna

Shimla Khatun, 14, was a grade VII student at local Kajdiya High School. She was alone at the house when she was murdered at Salpa Bahirdia village in Khulna's Rupsha upazila on early Monday, police said. Shimla’s brother Akash, a jute mill employee, said he found the house’s door broken after he had returned home from work. “I saw my sister’s body lying on the floor,” he said. Police initially said Shimla was not raped. Rupsha police OC Rafiqul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune that they were trying to identify and arrest the killers.
