A Chittagong court granted a petition to interrogate Iskcon leader and spokesperson for Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagaran Jote, Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, at the jail gate in connection with a case filed over the attack on a mosque and the vandalism of its complex on the Chittagong court premises.

Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate SM Alauddin passed the order on Tuesday afternoon after hearing a petition submitted by the investigation officer of the case.

Earlier, on Monday, the court had also approved a petition to question Chinmoy Krishna at the jail gate in a separate case filed against him for allegedly assaulting an on-duty police officer in the same area.

Confirming the matter, Assistant Public Prosecutor Advocate Md Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury said that during the bail hearing of Chinmoy Krishna Das, who is currently in jail in a sedition case, an attack took place on a mosque located on the court premises, and the mosque complex was vandalized.

On May 18, the court had earlier ordered authorities to interrogate Chinmoy at the jail gate in the sedition case, which involves charges of disrespecting the national flag and the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam.

Chinmoy was arrested in Dhaka on November 25 last year in connection with the sedition case. He is currently being held at Chittagong Central Jail.

A total of six cases have been filed against Chinmoy, including charges of murdering a lawyer, attacking police officers, vandalizing vehicles, assaulting lawyers and litigants, and detonating cocktails.
