Actor Nusraat Faria has been sent to jail in connection with the attempted murder case of one Enamul Haque under Vatara police station, related to the July movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nasrin Akter issued the order to send her to jail on Monday.
Earlier, the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Md Billal Bhuiyan of Vatara police station, submitted a plea for her detention.
The defence lawyer applied for bail, while the public prosecutor opposed it.
After the hearing, the judge rejected the bail petition and ordered her to be sent to jail.
The court also set May 22 as the date for the bail hearing.
On Sunday, Nusraat Faria was detained by police at the airport while on her way to Thailand. She was subsequently shown as arrested in the case.
According to the case details, on July 19 last year, Enamul Haque took part in the July movement in an area under Vatara police station.
On that day, he was shot in the leg. He was later admitted to the hospital in an unconscious state. After recovering, he filed the case on May 3 this year.
The case names 283 individuals as accused, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 17 artists.
Nusraat Faria has been listed as the 207th accused. The case identifies her as a financial supporter of the Awami League.
Nusraat Faria made her film debut in 2015 and has since appeared in several Bangladeshi and Indian productions.
