The High Court has issued a rule asking why the preliminary examination of the 46th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), held in April, should not be cancelled due to allegations of question leaks and fraud, also directing an investigation into the incidents.
The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury issued the order on Monday following a hearing on a writ petition, ordering a report to be submitted within 60 days.
Advocate Shah Navila Kashfi had filed the writ petition in the High Court on October 24, seeking the cancellation of the preliminary examination over allegations of question leaks and fraud, on behalf of 24 examinees.
The petition named the Cabinet secretary, chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), secretary of the Public Administration Ministry, secretary of the Law Ministry and the secretary of the Home Ministry, among others, as respondents.
Notably, on September 26, a legal notice was sent demanding the cancellation of the 46th BCS preliminary exam, which had faced allegations of question leaks and fraud. Advocate Shah Navila Kashfi sent the notice on behalf of the 24 examinees.
As no response was received to the notice, the writ was filed in the High Court on behalf of the affected candidates.
