The High Court has granted a six-month bail to Sohel Rana, the owner of Rana Plaza, in a case filed over the building collapse that killed over 1,000 people.
The court bench comprising Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order after hearing his bail petition on Tuesday.
Deputy Attorney General Masud Rana, who represented the state, later said an appeal would be filed with the Appellate Division against the High Court's bail order.
In March 2022, the High Court issued a rule asking why Sohel Rana should not be granted bail.
On April 6 last year, the court granted him bail, but the Appellate Division suspended that bail order on April 9.
The Rana Plaza collapse, the deadliest industrial disaster in Bangladesh's history, occurred on April 24, 2013, killing 1,136 people, most of whom were garment workers.
Sohel Rana, the owner of the building, is the main accused in the murder case filed over the incident.
