Workers injured in the 2013 Rana Plaza collapse and families of those who died in the tragedy have held a rally in Savar to press home their seven demands.
Over 50 of them gathered in front of the Savar Press Club on Friday morning, demanding the arrest and punishment of all involved in the Rana Plaza tragedy, including garment factory owners, the building owner, government officials, and public representatives.
They also called for government land to be allocated for the permanent rehabilitation of the affected workers, medical treatment for the injured, and recovery of misappropriated aid money to be given to the victims' families.
They also urged government support for the higher education of the children of affected workers, setting up bank accounts for those who do not have them, and taking legal action against the politicians, labour leaders, and NGOs who misappropriated the aid funds.
One protester, Nurul Islam, said that a grant of Tk10,000 per injured worker was misappropriated by former state minister for relief Dr Enamur Rahman and his wife.
He highlighted being politically sidelined and demanded the immediate distribution of the embezzled funds to the workers.
