A Dhaka court has issued a travel ban on 18 former ministers and eight members of parliament, including the former foreign minister of the Awami League government Mohammad Hasan Mahmud.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain's court gave this order after the hearing on Monday.
ACC Court Inspector Amir Hossain confirmed this information.
Those banned from leaving the country include – former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud; former minister of state for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid; former minister of state for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, former minister of state for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak; former state minister for primary and mass education Md Zakir Hossain; former expatriates and welfare minister Imran Ahmed; former minister of state for power, energy, and mineral resources Md Enamul Haq; former minister of state for local government, rural development and cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee; former commerce minister Tipu Munshi; former minister of state for disaster management and relief Dr Enamur Rahman; former law minister Anisul Huq; former local government, rural development and cooperatives minister Md Tajul Islam; former religious affairs minister Faridul Haque Khan; former textiles and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi; former minister of state for youth and sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russell; former minister of state for disaster management and relief Mohibbur Rahman; former water resources minister Anwar Hossain and former information minister Hasanul Haq Inu.
Besides, the court has banned several parliamentarians from going abroad.
Earlier, ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam applied for a ban on the emigration of 10 former ministers and three members of parliament. ACC Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam conducted the hearing on behalf of the ACC.
Apart from this, ACC Deputy Director Md Mostafizur Rahman applied for a ban on the emigration of eight former ministers and five members of parliament. Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir heard on behalf of the ACC.
The court passed this order after hearing two separate applications.
