Satkhira court summons Evaly founder Rassel over cheque fraud

Update : 07 Dec 2021, 02:27 PM

A Satkhira court has summoned online marketplace Evaly’s founder and Managing Director Mohammad Rassel in a case of cheque fraud.

Satkhira resident Sheikh Tanvir lodged the case on Thursday with the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Humayun Kabir.

According to the case documents, Tanvir had paid Tk2.94 lakh to buy a motorcycle, which he did not receive within 45 days. As this goes against the company policy, Evaly sent him a cheque for Tk5 lakh.

On October 3, when Tanvir attempted to cash in the cheque, it bounced. The plaintiff tried to inform the accused about the matter, but failed.

On October 11, he sent a legal notice to Evaly’s office, but it came back two days later as Evaly's office was closed.

Plaintiff’s counsel Mostafa Asaduzzaman said the court had taken the matter into its cognizance and issued summons against the accused Mohammad Rassel. The next hearing has been scheduled for March 24.
