A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed model Marium Akter Mou on two-day fresh remand in a case filed with Mohammadpur police station under the Narcotics Control Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufiyan Md Noman passed the order after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police produced her before the court seeking five-day fresh remand in the case.
Defence counsels opposed the remand petitions and sought bail for the accused. However, the court rejected their appeals after a hearing.

Mou was already on a total of seven-day remand in two phases in the drugs case.
On August 1, the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Mou from the capital’s Mohammadpur area in Dhaka on charges of blackmailing people with objectionable photos.
Later, the narcotics case was filed against Mou over drugs and liquor recovered from her residence.
On August 2, Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam had granted three-day remand for Mou in the narcotics cases, filed with Mohammadpur police station.
Mou, while being taken into police custody, claimed to journalists that there were no drugs at her house and that she was being framed.
