A Dhaka court on Sunday recorded the confessional statement of spiritual leader (khatib) Ali Hasan Osama in a case filed on charges of planning to attack the Parliament Complex on May 5.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debbrata Biswas recorded the confessional statement of Osama on Saturday after Kazi Mizanur Rahman, an inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of DMP produced him before the court with a plea to record his statement.
After recording the statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), the magistrate sent Osama to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.

The court also sent banned Ansar al Islam operative Al-Amin to jail after investigative officer (IO) Mizanur Rahman produced him before the court on completion of his remand in the same case.
Counter Terrorism unit arrested Al-Amin from the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on May 5 for planning to carry out attack on Jatiya Sangsad while Osama, a khatib of Rajbari Bazar Jame Masjid, was arrested from Rajbari district the same day for his provocative speeches.
Later, police filed a case against them with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act over the incident.
